Emergency crews were alerted shortly before 11 a.m. Monday, May 9, of a hang glider who was down in an area off Carrick Road in East Berne, in Albany County, according to the New York State Police.

Troopers, along with New York State Parks Police and the Albany County Sheriff’s Office, responded to the scene and located the man a short time later.

Investigators determined that he had been hang gliding with a group nearby when he lost control shortly after leaving the launch pad.

He intentionally grounded the glider and landed in some trees, suffering minor scratches along the way, police said.

Nobody else was injured.
